Youth Ministry Leadership Announcement

First Family,
As a church, we strongly believe in the importance of ministering to our students. We aim to guide them towards a relationship with God through Christ Jesus and to assist them in becoming more Christ-like by experiencing the transforming power of God’s grace. Unfortunately, today’s students face significant physical, emotional, and spiritual challenges. As the saying goes, “Today our students are forced to face adult problems without adult wisdom and adult coping skills.” Given the urgent need and our dedication to student ministry, we are seeking to hire three full-time staff members: two Director(s) for Student Ministry and one Student Ministry Administrator. For several months our Student Ministry Search Team has been working diligently to prayerfully consider who would fill the role of Director(s) for Student Ministry. I am pleased to provide an update to you on their behalf:

Dear Church Family,
The Student Ministry search team has an exciting update.  Upon the recommendation of the search team and with the approval of the Personnel Committee, Shonica David has been selected to fill one of the two Director of Student Ministry positions.  Shonica is well-qualified for this role by both education and experience.  Shonica has a BS in Business Administration from the University of Central Florida and a Master of Divinity in Christian Ministry from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.  Shonica has served in our FBCA Youth Ministry for the past decade, beginning as a volunteer in 2014 and then joining the FBCA staff as the Youth Ministry Associate in 2018.  She also served as our Interim Youth Minister from July 2021 to September 2022.  Please pray for Shonica as she transitions to this new role.  Please also pray for the search team as we continue the search for a second Director of Student Ministry.

At the recommendation of the Search Team, we have extended this invitation to Shonica effective immediately. We are so grateful for her many years of faithful service in student ministry here at FBCA. She is a shining example of a Christ follower, and we believe that she will continue to lead our students to know and follow Christ in their lives. Would you please join me in welcoming and praying for Shonica. I am confident that God will continue to use her to shepherd our students to faith in Christ.
