National Day of Prayer

First Family,

This Thursday, May 2nd, is reserved as a National Day of Prayer.

In 1988, President Ronald Reagan established the first Thursday in May as the National Day of Prayer after a joint resolution of the United States Congress in 1952.

On this day, Americans come together across the country to pray for God's guidance and blessings upon our nation. This year’s theme is taken from 2 Samuel 22:29-31. “Lift up the Word – light up the world.”

“For you are my lamp, O Lord, and my God lightens my darkness. For by You I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall. This God—his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; He is a shield for all those who take refuge in Him.”

I am so grateful for this theme as it continues to acknowledge and build upon the truth of God’s Word. The following link contains a great resource for how to pray for our nation. Providing prompts for key areas such as Government, Military, Media, Business, Education, Church, and Family.

Let’s join together in this national effort of prayer. God gave us this promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

Servant for His Glory,
Pastor Robert
